Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary:

Harbortown Treatment Center, a substance abuse treatment facility based in Benton Harbor, is seeking a full- or part-time Peer Recovery Coach. This position provides peer support services to individuals in an outpatient substance use treatment setting.


Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct interactions and facilitates support groups to assist with successful engagement and retention in treatment.
  • Use own life experience to engage individuals in crisis, assist individual with engaging in services and supports, and development of an individualized recovery plan.
  • Play an advocacy role and promote self-care, illness self-management, and wellness and recovery.
  • Provide community outreach and collaborates with local agencies to educate, identify, and link individuals to substance use treatment services.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical behaviors. Must be sensitive to diverse cultures and languages and foster the team work ethic.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, managers and support staff.
  • Maintain all documentation that is required in a complete and timely manner and comply with all HIPAA requirements.


Education/Training:

  • Current certification as a Peer Recovery Coach or ability to pursue the certification
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of recovery from substance use
  • Prior experience working with individuals in recovery strongly preferred
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
