Job Title: Mental Health Community Liaison                                                   


Reports to: Mental Health Specialist                                             


Job Summary:  This position is part of the Mental Health Team. This team works together to provide one-on-one holistic and culturally appropriate accompaniment to individuals. They carry out the mission by welcoming accompaniments into the La Casita circle, providing an introduction to holistic services, and working cohesively with other La Casita teams and community partners to ensure the well being of accompaniments is enhanced.     


Supervisory Responsibilities: None.


Duties/Responsibilities:

Accompaniment 

  • Provide one-on-one holistic and culturally appropriate accompaniment to individuals and families in need of counseling or mental health support.
  • Advocate for accompaniments to improve their well-being and access to services in the community.
  • Link accompaniments to resources in the community.
  • Provide counseling for accompaniments who are in crisis by creating a safe space for them to talk and share their emotions.
  • Evaluate the needs of new accompaniments and coordinate services available through La Casita and other community partners.
  • Maintain a positive attitude to address concerns and to support the needs of those who we accompany.
  • Follow up with accompaniments to ensure connection to resources


Outreach

  • Provide support during Encuentros, Consulate, and Fundraising events.
  • Participate in network events in the community and organizations to speak about our services.


Administrative

  • Research resources and services that meet the needs of the community we serve.
  • Provide support to other areas of need within the organization.
  • Maintain confidential information provided verbally or in writing.
  • Maintain and complete documentation and services related to accompaniments. 


Other Duties

  • Perform other job duties as assigned.


Responsibilities include 

  • Commit to the acuerdos of the Latina Feminist movement.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Respond in a timely manner to messages during work hours. 
  • Report to La Casita Team supervisor during check-ins as scheduled.
  • Be mindful that as a team member of La Casita Center you are seen as representative of the organization at all times, in physical and digital spaces. 
  • Assist with maintaining La Casita Center space and regular office hours.


Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent organizational skills

Time management skills

Capacity to multitask and prioritize tasks 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality


Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field

Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques

Fluency in the Spanish language required


Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Ability to work in a highly stressful environment
