The Facilities Coordinator works as a part of the Facilities team to keep the store safe, clean, and well maintained. In addition to routine custodial, maintenance, and forklift responsibilities, the Facilities Coordinator is responsible for creating preventative maintenance and cleaning schedules for store equipment. The Facilities Coordinator assists in developing and completing larger-scale projects like seasonal conditioning, and administering training plans. The Facilities Coordinator serves as a leader in the department by providing support and supervision to Facilities Clerks in the absence of Management.


This is a Full Time position (40 hour, 5 shift weekly minimum)


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists Facilities Manager in developing and executing plans for facility maintenance and improvement

  • Assists with developing and implementing plans for seasonal needs such as snow removal, outdoor seating, and seasonal product displays
  • Creates preventative maintenance and cleaning schedules and ensures tasks are completed accordingly
  • Works with Facilities Manager in executing and maintaining each project according to department plans, prioritizing safety and following guidelines for store conditioning
  • Assists with developing, implementing, and maintaining plans for building maintenance and safety

Assists Facilities Manager in developing, implementing, and sustaining training plans

  • Assists with developing and implementing training plans for department-specific tasks and store-wide needs such as safety and emergency preparedness
  • Acts as department trainer, providing Facilities Clerks with initial and ongoing training and support in their job functions, and providing training to other Co-op workers as directed

Operates forklift for receiving and other store needs

  • Works as a part of the forklift team to ensure that all deliveries are received safely and in good condition
  • Assists in coordinating forklift activities such as maintenance, training, and inspections
  • Maintains and models a strong knowledge of safety requirements related to forklift operation at all times

Acts as a part of the Facilities team to keep the store safe, clean, and well maintained

  • Performs custodial tasks as scheduled, modeling leadership by upholding department standards for assigned tasks, as well as identifying and meeting needs as they arise
  • Participates in building maintenance as scheduled, practicing preventative maintenance when possible and promptly taking corrective action when necessary
  • Models leadership in safety by demonstrating best practices and bringing safety awareness to each task and interaction
  • Maintains a strong awareness of Facilities department function and addresses issues promptly and appropriately, following store-wide standards for documentation, performance coaching, and incident reporting.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

Preferred:

  • Previous experience operating a forklift
  • Previous experience in a safety-sensitive position
  • Previous leadership experience

Minimum:

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication)
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to safely operate heavy machinery
