The Technical Design Specialist will support both internal and external customers with rod string design and optimization, as well as product engineering needs with PDM tools within the organization. The role will be responsible for ensuring offerings are compliant with various industry standards, company best practices, and operator norms. The ideal candidate will be experienced in developing detailed recommendations and outputs from at times limited inputs.

  • Minimum Requirements
    • Familiarity with SROD and RodStar
    • Excellent mathematical and analytic skills.
    • Excellent organizational and written communication skills
    • Experience with design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical drawings and reports.
    • 10+ years of relevant experience or as deemed sufficient by management.
  • Responsibilities
    • Independently perform most design activities.
    • Support the development of various request for proposals including rod string design and analysis.
    • Interface with product management and engineering, sales, and manufacturing to support product line needs.
    • Support engineering manager with rod failure analysis.
    • Support engineering manager with PDM design support.
    • Support execution of engineering change orders through company’s PDM and QMS systems.
    • Articulate the Lufkin Rod value proposition and apply its principals into recommended designs.
    • Other projects as assigned.
  • Essential Characteristics
    • Approaches work in a collaborative manner, considering dependencies of multiple inputs from different stakeholders.
    • Ability to apply structured thinking, simplifying complex problems to a creative resolution.
    • Detail oriented.
    • API or SPE membership.
