Sr. Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities and Duties
Essential Functions:
Design and develop equipment and hardware for harsh environments.
Design and manufacture test systems for evaluating APS hardware and products.
Work with designers and detailers to create layouts, detail and assembly drawings of new equipment.
Perform all calculations, estimations, and laboratory tests required to verify the soundness and suitability of the design.
Initiate and monitor the procurement of all parts required to build prototypes; assist in the construction of prototypes.
Set up bench and field testing of equipment, hardware and software and evaluate test results.
Ensure that drawings, specifications, and procedures are complete, current, and appropriate for their purpose, and are released to other departments in a timely and orderly manner.
Participate in design reviews.Write and distribute meeting minutes.
Ensure that project tasks are completed on schedule and within budget constraints.
Write project update reports and final project reports.
Act as a resource person, providing training and guidance and instruction to others as required.
Be involved with sustaining engineering activities including product improvement efforts and material review board (MRB).
Job Specifications
Education / Experience required: Engineering Degree plus 5 or more years experience, or the equivalent.
Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering plus 5+ years of experience in a progressive new product R&D environment.
Demonstrate an inventive, creative approach to problem solving.
Define and evaluate designs for electronics system modules and printed circuit boards.
Background in electronics design including analog and digital circuit design, microcontrollers, sensors, data acquisition, power supply, and communications interfaces.
Experience in the development of electronics design for use in harsh environments (high temperature, high shock/vibration).
Background in instrumentation design including electro-mechanical assemblies, motor control, data acquisition, and sensor technology.
Background in components selection, circuit analysis, circuit board layout and design, and electrical & mechanical assembly.
Hands-on experience in electronics design, prototyping, and circuit board layout and design.
Proficient with electronics CAD simulation and design packages.
Perform analysis and interpret experimental data, formulate, and communicate conclusions.
Experience with the use of standard and advanced laboratory measurement and test equipment.
Understanding in the area of software engineering as it related to embedded firmware for data acquisition and control, as well as GUI and applications software.
