Job Title: R&D Engineer

Department: Engineering

Reports to (Title): Lead, Engineering

Brief Summary of Position:

Leads the R&D team and drives the development strategy of MMC product line. Is responsible for the innovation, design and development of products that are competitive and best in class based on the strategic roadmap of the company. Performance requirements include monitoring progress of execution of product designs to meet company objectives, technical leadership to guide product development in a timely manner, partnering with sustaining engineering group in ensuring design for manufacturability, and development of systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards with maximum efficiency.

Essential Duties of the Position:

  • Lead the development team to deliver innovative products that are best in class, cost efficient and released on aggressive if not on time schedules.
  • Key technical resource that support product design and accelerates design process through personal contribution.
  • Plans, schedules, budgets and tracks engineering projects/product designs from concept to execution.
  • Evaluates design and product challenges and trade-offs and drives decisions that balance multiple inputs against product and company objectives.
  • Interacts and communicates effectively within the department and cross functionally to ensure product development that is executed in compliance to major objectives and timely.
  • Promotes professional development within the Engineering team and creates a highly competitive team.
  • Manages growth and development of the team and drives career growth for employees.
  • Responsible for executing product roadmaps and makes timely recommendations based on product or market knowledge.
  • Drives for traceable documentation of design stages in compliance with quality procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains operational budgets for the R&D team (personnel and equipment).
  • Supports business development and roadmap activities by evaluating new product ideas and provides estimates on specifications, time and cost of such ideas.
  • Responsible for pre-sales support activities by creating system and solution proposals and timelines.

Requirements (education, prior work experience, special skills, etc.)

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering with emphasis in RF & microwave engineering.
  • 10+ engineering design experience in the microwave/RF test measurement field.
  • Strong technical background, with ability to lead team of engineers from multiple disciplines (electrical, mechanical, software, etc.)
  • Experience with amplifier design/ load pull techniques and measurement science (calibration methodologies) is desired.
  • Experience successfully leading technical development teams and getting results through others.
  • Experience planning strategically, managing multiple priorities, and analyzing and solving technical and personnel matters.
  • Experience managing engineering projects, quality assurance, and costing issues.
  • Strong customer satisfaction orientation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Metrics driven in analyzing performance of team, self and department.
  • Drive for excellence attitude with can-do attitude that drives creative and solutions oriented thinking.
