The Columbus Fieldhouse is over 260,000 square feet of adventure space: full-sized indoor soccer field, 6,000 square feet of trampoline area, 9 hole miniature golf course, batting cages, golf and batting simulators, nearly 400 meter walking/running track, esports room, soft play climbing area for pre-school and toddlers, basketball/volleyball/racquetball courts, and tennis and pickleball courts - all connected to the existing YMCA space with a swimming pool, exercise area, exercise studios and existing basketball/volleyball courts. There is truly no facility like this in our region.

Position Overview: As the Assistant Youth Coordinator, you will work closely with our dedicated team to support the planning, organization, and implementation of youth programs and activities. From assisting with program development to providing guidance and support to participants, you'll be instrumental in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all youth involved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Youth Director in managing of all aspects of youth and family programs which includes, but is not limited to, all non-sports youth and family programming.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising program staff and volunteers.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that promotes the physical, mental, and social well-being of youth participants.
  • Develop partnerships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program offerings and outreach efforts.
  • Provide guidance and support to youth participants, promoting positive behavior and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times.
  • Assists with the overall planning and facilitating year-round youth programs for ages 3-14. (This would vary based on the strengths and experience of the individual).
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in education, social work, recreation, or related field preferred.

• Experience working with youth in a recreational, educational, or community-based setting.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Organizational skills to be able to multitask several programs/duties at the same time.

• CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days after hiring.

• Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision, and values.

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay and benefits of the position:

• Pay range - $16-17 hour depending upon experience

• Health insurance – employee only - 75% Y pay, 25% employee pay

• YMCA retirement program – 12%; 7% Y pay, 5% employee pay – after 2 years of work

• PTO time – (Paid Time Off) depending upon years of experience

• YMCA Membership – depending upon family/life situation (family, adult, etc.)

• Free and reduced YMCA program fees

• 1 paid conference annually (registration fees, travel, food, lodging)
