Montessori Elementary Teacher

McKinney, United States Guidepost Montessori Full time
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe're now accepting applications for the 2024 School Year.Teachers who want to change the world come to Guidepost.

We're rooted in the Montessori tradition, which means we believe in an open work period where children choose what to work on and work at their own pace. We bring structure to that schedule with a coaching-based approach to help children plan their own goals each day, using a work journal as a personal schedule and the adults in the room as guides and accountability partners. We also recognize that when approaches like that go wrong, children don't learn. So, we've invested years in extensive curriculum development to ensure rich and comprehensive curriculum across mathematics, geometry, literature, grammar, biology, chemistry, physics, art appreciation, handwork, and more. And we have an accredited teacher training program to teach that curriculum to our "guides" along with the skill of running a classroom in a way that is at once fully individualized and fully engaged and productive. That training program will earn you a diploma that is recognized world-wide.

Are you a passionate, Montessori-trained teacher? Do you want to be part of a team of people working to grow the Montessori movement? Join our team and lead your very own Elementary classroom in one of our beautiful campuses across the United States. Because we open schools year-round, we accept applications on a rolling basis. This means that we'll contact you just as soon as we have an opening that looks like it might be a fit for you

In this role, you'll create and lead a model classroom. Through your efforts, parents will see what's possible for their child when authentic, high-quality Montessori is alive and well in the prepared environment. You will be provided with a full set of high-quality materials from leading manufacturers, along with a classroom budget to make your classroom unique. We have an amazing team of AMI-trained Montessori Mentors who will be available to lead professional development, provide feedback, and help develop your skills even further.

We offer competitive salaries, health, dental and vision insurance, as well as a generous tuition discount.

Our elementary program is truly unique: a mixed-aged Montessori community, with first through sixth graders learning alongside one another in a rich social environment. It continues the Montessori approach of practiced autonomy and self-mastery; of highly individualized lessons and extended periods of concentrated work. Within that framework, we embed a sequence of classical academic content in the humanities and the sciences. Learn more about our approach to elementary education here.

Are you fresh out of training?

Joining our team is an opportunity to learn directly from an experienced Lead Guide in a mentor/mentee capacity, giving you the rare opportunity to develop, practice, and refine your newly learned skills in a safe and nurturing environment. Work alongside our Mentor Guide until you are ready to branch out on your own We also have a phenomenal team of experienced, AMI-trained mentors working on our central team, providing support to each of our elementary classrooms across the country.

Want to learn more about us?

At Guidepost Montessori, we are a team of educators, first and foremost. Even our founder and CEO is AMI trained, and started his career in the classroom We've now expanded to become a network of Montessori schools, dedicated to fundamentally changing the face of education in the United States by growing the Montessori movement. From the top-down, we believe in what we do – and we want to invite you to join our community of educators, passionate about spreading high-fidelity Montessori

We'd love to talk to you if you:

· Have a demonstrated passion for one or more subject matters, preferably in conjunction with a related B.A. or advanced degree.

· Have experience with elementary-aged children and put in the effort and thought to get to know each child as an individual.

· Come to us ready to put in the work and the practice time to learn each of our specialized learning materials and our particular curriculum, as well as the Montessori approach to managing an open-ended work period and individualized child progress.

· Will actively earn the trust of parents and utilize them as by far the best source of information about their children.
· Take pride in your work

· Are friendly with error

· Believe in the quote, "A goal without a plan is just a wish."

· Get energized and inspired by working with children
