Primary Tasks:

  • Routine and non-routine laboratory testing.
  • Maintain and organize the laboratory, including supplies and documents.
  • Follow and conduct quality control checks throughout the facility for compliance with all policy and program requirements, including SOPs & GMPs.
  • Perform pre-op checks and release the line to production.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring
  • Review and disposition raw materials.
  • Conduct ATP swabbing of equipment.
  • Verify sanitation procedures and effectiveness.
  • Place non-conforming materials on HOLD.
  • Enter all data in proper system and maintain manual records/logs.
  • Perform daily calibrations and verifications of equipment.
  • Communicate directives and provide instructions/guidance/coaching.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area/laboratory
  • Follow all food safety and quality system requirements by committing to meet all pertinent regulatory, customer and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Requirements

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to Manager, Quality Assurance

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Integral in day-to-day execution of food safety & quality assurance programs.
  • Conduct quality and food safety testing procedures, identify deviations, collaborate on corrections and corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular line checks and observations throughout the facility, ensure good manufacturing practices and security procedures are being followed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in science-related field preferred.
  • Experience in a laboratory technician, quality control, food production role preferred.
  • Conversing and working closely with all departments to ensure a good working environment and a strong food safety quality culture.
  • Must be able to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations and accurately record data when required.
  • HACCP & PCQI certification preferred – or the ability to gain certification.
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Other:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, reach, pull, climb, and bend with a full range of body motion.
  • Must be able to work independently and/or in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work in wet and/or humid environments. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals will occur.
  • Use of PPE required (gloves, hair nets, beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection).
  • Exposure to nut allergens.
  • Position location: On-site in Winston-Salem, NC.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required.
