Job Summary: The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist oversees and ensures compliance with all international trade regulations and laws. This role involves implementing policies and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure import and export laws adherence. The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist will work closely with various departments to provide guidance on trade compliance matters and develop strategies to optimize international trade operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement trade compliance policies and procedures to ensure import and export regulations adherence.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of trade compliance activities to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Provide guidance and training to employees on trade compliance requirements and procedures.
- Monitor changes in international trade regulations and laws and assess their impact on company operations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for government agencies and regulatory bodies regarding trade compliance matters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and logistics, to ensure alignment on trade compliance initiatives.
- Manage trade compliance documentation, including import/export licenses, permits, and certifications.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other third-party service providers.
- Investigate and resolve trade compliance issues and incidents in a timely manner.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and trends in trade compliance.
- Party Screenings.
- Maintain record keeping as required by the Customs authorities.
- Apply for export and import authorizations with the Department of Commerce, Department of State, and Office of Foreign Assets Control via a DSP-5, Technical Assistance Agreement, Manufacturing License Agreement, SNAP-R, or other applications/agreements as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, international trade, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in trade compliance, preferably in a senior or leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, including import/export controls, customs compliance, and sanctions programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Certified US Export Compliance Officer -CUSECO®, Certified Export Specialist -CES or equivalent experience
- Licensed Customs Broker, or equivalent experience
