Job DescriptionJob Description

Hiring Range: $25 to $27 hourly, paid bi-weekly

The Rental Repair Coordinator is responsible for the efficient processing of rehab and new construction rental housing projects funded through the Vermont Housing Improvement Program (VHIP) in Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle counties. This individual works as a key member of the Loan Fund team, cultivating positive relationships with team members, program administrators, applicants and customers through use of clear communication, attention to detail, and empathy.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Handle all program inquiries in a friendly and professional manner, adhering to program and fair housing regulations, referring to team members as appropriate, and keeping an accurate log of communications with interested parties.
  • Maintain the program website, coordinating with team members to make essential program updates as necessary.
  • Complete initial review of all loan and grant applications, including follow up on incomplete packets, creating a preliminary file, and entering data into the program's databases.
  • Create a rehab file for each project. Coordinate and conduct project site inspections. Create and finalize required scopes of work for repair/construction.
  • Complete and disburse necessary loan and grant paperwork to respective borrower/grantee.
  • Assist with processing and funding activities as needed, including processing project invoices, updating completion progress, and assisting with check requests.
  • Process new vendor applications, including gathering all applicable vendor documentation and submitting to Finance department for approval and checking national debarment list for eligibility at the time of application.
  • Coordinate with Senior Special Projects Coordinator and Associate Director of Lending as needed to facilitate quarterly reporting for NeighborWorks America and other funders or stakeholders as applicable.
  • Assist with grant/loan servicing activities as needed. Activities may include document recording and final cost certifications.
  • Provide support with Loan Fund marketing and outreach activities as needed.
  • Attend trainings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2 years working in construction, real estate, lending, or related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A degree or post-secondary coursework in construction or trades, architecture, business, management, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Rental Housing Health Code and experience working with home repairs, construction, permitting, lending, grants and/or federal housing programs preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including business writing, coordination, planning, and customer service required.
  • Strong computer and technology skills, including Microsoft Office, are required.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivation, solid work ethic, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and willingness to learn are required.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Commitment to social justice, equity and CHT’s membership-based model of community controlled and permanently affordable housing required.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check is required.

Physical and Mental abilities: The Rental Repair Project Coordinator must have the physical and mental abilities to perform the essential job duties listed above. However, reasonable accommodation may be extended to help perform those duties. The job entails long periods of sitting at a desk. There may be prolonged periods of computer work. While performing the essential duties of this job the Home Repair Coordinator may have to use hands and fingers, walk, stand, reach, or lift up to 50 pounds.
