The Senior Accountant (SA) is a supporting member of the accounting department. The SA is a mid-level accounting professional who is responsible for maintaining financial records under the direction and supervision of the CFO. The primary focus of the SA is to support the CFO by managing a variety of daily accounting tasks and entries to keep the financial books up to date and in accordance with Private Company Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Skills & knowledge
  • Strong foundation knowledge of accounting principles relating to the role.

  • Understand the function of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
  • Excellent communication skills in writing, speaking and active listening.

  • Proficient computer skills with the ability and desire to learn new software promptly.
  • Proper documentation management.

Tasks & Activities
  • Assist with Accounts Payable data entry, check runs, and statement reconciliations.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable invoicing, payment application, and collections.
  • Assist in monthly and yearly close.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, verify deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Assist with periodic reporting of cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Maintain knowledge of US Private Company GAAP accounting practices and procedures.
  • Manage time effectively to meet all deadlines and goals as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Keep a positive attitude for solving accounting problems.
  • Ability to identify a routine or structured problem and apply the resolution.
  • Ability to identify a nonstructured problem and work out the resolution.
  • Know what complies with accounting rules, what is possible and what is not.

Requirements & work setting
  • Requires standing, sitting, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, leaning, squatting, repetitive motions to perform general office duties.
  • Professional office environment. Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phone, scanners, copiers, etc.
  • Must speak, write, read, understand, and communicate clearly in English.
  • Wear required Martin Docks shirts and jackets with Logo combined with casual office attire.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of an Associates Degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 Years Experience in General Accounting
  • Type at least 35 words per minute, 10 key punch and computer savvy.
  • Intermediate experience in accounting software.
  • Intermediate experience in the Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
