The MRI Technologist is integral to ensuring efficient patient flow within the department while providing exceptional patient care and delivering high-quality imaging services. This role involves operating advanced imaging equipment according to physician orders and established protocols, ensuring precise and timely diagnostic results for patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Scanning and Care:

    • Perform MRI scans competently and efficiently as per physician and radiologist requests.
    • Deliver excellent patient care, ensuring patient comfort and understanding throughout the procedure.
    • Assist patients with positioning and provide reassurance to maintain a calm environment during scans.
    • Administer contrast injections when necessary, following safety guidelines.
    • Promptly transfer images to the radiology group for review and interpretation.
  2. Equipment and Quality Assurance:

    • Conduct daily and weekly quality assurance (QA) checks on MRI machines to ensure optimal functionality.
    • Report and address any equipment issues immediately to prevent disruptions in service.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile scanning environment.
  3. Compliance and Documentation:

    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory standards to ensure patient and staff safety.
    • Accurately document patient information, scan details, and any administered treatments.
    • Utilize relevant software for managing patient data, images, and communication effectively.
    • Participate in ongoing training and certification maintenance to stay current with industry standards and practices.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members to optimize patient care.
    • Communicate effectively with patients and staff, addressing any questions or concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Assist in training new staff and participate in team meetings to share knowledge and improve departmental operations.
  5. Additional Duties:

    • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned to support the smooth operation of the department.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma required.
    • Associate’s degree or higher: Completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology or a related field is mandatory.
    • 0 to 6 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    • Required:
      • ARRT Certification.
      • State Licensure.
      • MRI Registry Eligible.
      • BLS Certification.
    • Preferred:
      • MRR Registration by ARRT.
  • Software Skills Required:

    • Proficiency in MRI imaging software for acquiring and processing images.
    • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for managing patient data.
    • Basic understanding of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) for accessing medical images.
    • Knowledge of medical billing software for accurate documentation.
    • Competence in communication and collaboration tools for effective teamwork.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.
    • Understanding of safety and compliance software for regulatory adherence.
