About the Job
We are seeking a dynamic Test Engineering Manager to join our team at Systel. You will oversee the Test Engineering team at Systel, which is responsible for complete test and validation of first article Engineering units as well as providing support to multiple departments in the organization. This critical role ensures that our rugged compute solutions meet the rigorous standards required to reliably perform mission-critical operations in harsh environments.

This role reports to the VP of Engineering. This position is full-time onsite (in-person) at our headquarters in Sugar Land, TX. Some travel may be required.

You have a strong technical background and experience working in hardware engineering and manufacturing organizations.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management: Direct and manage the Test Engineering team and develop a strategic growth plan for the team. Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement within the team. Manage team resources effectively, including the recruitment and onboarding of new talent. Assess team structure and dynamics regularly to ensure optimal performance and adapt to changing project needs and priorities.
Team Development and Mentorship: Actively engage in the professional development of team members, identifying individual growth opportunities and mentoring engineers to achieve their full potential. Promote a learning environment where team members are encouraged to expand their skills and knowledge in rugged computing and related technologies.
Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the key liaison between the Test Engineering team and other departments, including Design Engineering, Production, and Sales. Ensure clear and effective communication across teams to facilitate the seamless transition of products from design to production readiness.
Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and refine testing processes and methodologies to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. Champion the adoption of best practices and innovative testing technologies within the team.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure that all testing activities and products meet or exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements. Lead the team in maintaining rigorous documentation and records for all testing procedures and results.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical field or Associate of Applied Science in Electrical Design or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a technical field related to computer hardware or systems testing, with at least 2-4 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Excellent organizational skills and work ethic.
• Experience with resource capacity planning and managing schedules in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with industry standards and certifications relevant to rugged computing and military specifications.is desirable.
• US Citizenship required.
