Job DescriptionJob Description

The Intake Specialist provides screening, assessments, and appointment scheduling for multi-disciplinary team members to ensure efficient services to clients. The Intake Specialist functions as the advocate for the team as well as the client in the scheduling process, handles requests for initial appointments, determines urgency and initial level of care, and schedules the client accordingly. This individual will maintain documentation and perform record keeping in accordance with agency requirements. The Intake Specialist will maintain confidentiality in accordance with all applicable state and federal regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Compassionately and expeditiously respond to telephone inquiries from individuals, their family members, and other referral sources seeking treatment information.
  • Accurately document all inquiry information on intake forms and maintain inquiry log of pending cases and follows up on inquiries regularly to ensure smooth coordination of admissions.
  • Establish rapport, systematically gather data, and determine the readiness of the individual for treatment and change
  • Schedule and assigned duties are subject to change based on the needs of the program and the clients we serve.
  • Maintains client records and case notes as well as grant related documentation
  • Screen for chief complaint
  • Screen for substance abuse, psychiatric, treatment, trauma, and medical histories.
  • Work closely with care team and business office staff
  • Analyze and interpret data to determine treatment recommendations and priorities and assess clinical and financial appropriateness for RIMYA.
  • Convey facility rules and policies to clients and their support systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field preferred. There is no license required for this position.
  • Experience working with individuals in crisis.
  • Experience in working with individuals with mental health and/ private pay setting preferred
  • Must have excellent telephone engagement and customer service skills.
  • Must be computer literate and able to navigate between several programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft systems including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience in clinical systems including, patient scheduling, EMR preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish languages.
  • Saturdays required (9am-3pm)
