The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in connecting community members with vital resources, ranging from entrepreneurial tools to support services for families and individuals. The Public Relations Specialist will serve as a community navigator and will deeply understand local resources, including program qualifications, referral turnaround times, and will track the most requested resources. This role requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs for outreach events.

Full-time (32 hours/wk) and part-time (20 hours/wk) positions available for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of local resources, programs, and services available to community members.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations, agencies, and service providers.
  • Track and document resource requests and emerging needs within the community.
  • Assist community members in navigating available resources, ensuring they meet program qualifications and understand referral processes.
  • Provide up-to-date information on referral turnaround times and assist in expediting urgent needs when possible.
  • Conduct outreach activities, including attending community events, workshops, and meetings to promote available resources and services.
  • Create and distribute informational materials about resources and services to the community.
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions, resource referrals, and outcomes in a database.
  • Prepare regular reports on resource utilization and community needs.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop strategies for improving resource accessibility and community outreach.
  • Lift and transport materials and equipment (up to 30 lbs) needed for outreach events and activities.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse community members and organizations.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and databases for tracking and reporting.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and services is preferred.
  • Flexibility to attend events and activities outside regular business hours, as needed.

Background Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, community development, human services, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant work experience in community outreach, social services, or a related area.
  • Lived experience in navigating community services and resources, such as having previously utilized these services personally or on behalf of family members.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
