Payroll Manager

Job Summary:

The Payroll Manager will oversee and supervise the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

·         Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.

·         Oversees the daily workflow of the payroll department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

·         Maintain time and attendance records, verifying timecards for completion and approval prior to payroll processing.

·         Processing 401K loans and distributions and assisting in managing 401K contributions.

·         Manages payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

·         Process & manage HSA/FSA deferrals and payments contributions.

·         Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments. Payroll may occur for states other than Texas.

·         Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

·         Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.

·         Prepare reports quarterly, yearly and weekly or ad hoc.

·         Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

·         Facilitates regular audits by reviewing records and documentation to ensure accuracy of records.

·         Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.

·         Manages employee data in HRIS system – processing employee changes timely and accurately.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

·         Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.

·         Effectively manage day to day payroll duties and responsibilities.

·         Knowledgeable of payroll implementation process.

·         Respond quickly and efficiently to requests from managers and employees.

·         Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

·         Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

·         Proficient with a variety of payroll software’s

·         Pays attention to details and ensuring accuracy of data.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

·         In-depth knowledge of UKG timekeeping and payroll suite of software.

·         In-depth knowledge of SAP.

 

Education and Experience:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.

·         10-15 years of payroll and related experience required.
