Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:

Supervises and dispatches technicians in response to vehicle operating problems; coordinates assigned activities to maintenance technicians to ensure vehicles are restored to service as quickly as possible. Maintenance supervisor is responsible of keeping maintenance shop in compliance with all applicable laws including technicians. Responsibilities include the following.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates the organization, staffing and operational activities for technicians in response to vehicle operating problems.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities; recommends and implements resulting policies and procedures.
  • Identifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identifies resource needs; reviews improvement recommendations with appropriate management staff; implements improvements.
  • Receives and analyses reported vehicle failures; determines technical support required and dispatches appropriate staff.
  • Records and maintains documentation of vehicle failures including actions taken to correct problems.
  • Maintains vehicle history records, informs higher level staff of repair and failure history and other information relevant to the maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles.
  • Selects, trains, motivates and evaluates assigned personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures.
  • Estimates time, materials and equipment required for assigned jobs; requisitions materials as required
  • Assures vehicles meet FMCSA and company standards.
  • Responsible for the operation of parts department
  • Responsible for OSHA/TCEQ compliance
  • Operates shop machiney such as forklifts or manufacturing equipment.
  • Ensures that shop area is clean, organized, and free of danger.
  • Produces department performance reports

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 - 7 years of job related experience required.

EDUCATION:

  • Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid DL required.
  • Diesel Tech Certification required.
  • Air Brake Certification required.
  • Electrical Certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Medium - Exerting 20-60 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
