SUMMARY

Develops, implements, and coordinates site programs to assure the reliability and integrity of plant equipment and systems. Coordinates with other departments to reduce production downtime, improve efficiency, and compliance of plant equipment and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs Pressure Relief calculations with data provided. Selects and maintains information for Pressure Relief Systems
  • Authors and completes change controls for activities in the Maintenance and Facilities Departments
  • Evaluates new equipment installations to ensure that the equipment application will provide acceptable operational reliability. Recommends and leads implementation of spare part changes (along with count and order points), based on both site historical data and vendor recommendations. Ensures PM System is correct for any new equipment installed
  • Evaluates equipment and equipment systems for existing and potential failure modes. Develops and implements approaches to reduce risk, and implements or coordinates actions
  • Evaluates data for equipment and systems, in regards to breakdown frequency, costs, safety issues, and general reliability; and creates any trending needed. Uses data to make future recommendations and ensure continuous improvement of the reliability systems. Leads implementation of any continuous improvement efforts
  • Establishes and periodically reviews corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance procedures for equipment and equipment systems. Determines reliability methodologies to best apply to equipment maintenance approaches to enhance equipment function. Leads changes to maintenance procedures
  • Works with Maintenance and Production to implement TPM Systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of how preventive maintenance is executed. Uses data to drive operator and autonomous care programs
  • Conducts root cause analysis on equipment system breakdowns along with chronic maintenance and repair problems. Recommend corrective actions and works with Deviation Team and Production to create effective CAPAs. These efforts may be done individually and/or may include leading teams
  • Collaborates with maintenance team to improve piping and Vessel Inspection Program, including the assessment of pressure ratings and equipment replacements. Implements actions to improve the program's cost effectiveness and efficiency
  • Identifies and/or approves spare parts recommendations for the Parts Crib, as a whole, to drive down overall cost while also ensuring minimal disruption to production
  • Works to identify new technology to be used for preventative maintenance to continue to improve efficiency, safety, and compliance. Looks for opportunities to implement in areas such as predictive maintenance, autonomous maintenance, continuous monitoring, and remote technology

LEADERSHIP & BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

Identifies, recommends, and authorizes equipment and spare parts purchases. May provide support as designee for the Facilities Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree (BS) in a related Engineering field with 6 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate should have a background working with SAP and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with software to manage relief calculations and vessel/pipe inspections is desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write memos, procedures, and letters that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
