Position Title: Accounts Payable Specialist
Position Reports to: Corporate Controller
Location: Colorado Springs, CO. Employee must be able to work in-office a minimum of 4 days a week.
Salary: Full-time Non-exempt $18.00 - $25.00 (DOE)
Minimum requirements:
- 2 years processing Accounts Payable
- High school diploma or GED
- Advanced competency in accounting and business management software
- Proficient in Excel
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in Business, Accounting
- Experience working in the home building industry preferred
- Familiarity with Buildertrend
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct

Role: The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing all invoices for the undertaking of payment to vendors in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. Assist the Purchasing team with the best practices and maintain a library of support documents. Assist with administrating the Rebate Program. This individual will also assist the accounting department in daily, monthly, and annual activities, audits and resolving discrepancies, reporting and ad hoc duties assigned by the Controller.
Primary duties:
- Preparing invoices for payment
- Preparing and processing bank deposits
- Performing day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
- Processing accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
- Receive, process, and reconcile vendor statements
- Set-up Vendors for companies
- File and track information for Rebate Program
- Support documentation prepared for purchasing programs
- Prepare timely rebate invoicing
- Assist with preparation for annual audits
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures
- Maintain accurate records, including ledgers, journals, receipts, and invoices
- Perform administrative and other tasks as needed.
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
- At least 2 years’ experience as an accounts payable specialist, or similar.
- Advanced competency in accounting and business management software.
- In-depth knowledge of accounts payable principles, accounting standards, and industry regulations.
- Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills
- Proficient in Excel
- Understand expense accounts and companies
- Understands compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W-9, sales tax, etc.)
- Self-motived and self-directed
- Must be a team player
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in entering financial data
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Deadline-driven with excellent time management ability
- Familiarity with Buildertrend, a home builder software, a plus
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct, a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization as well as with trade partners and vendors
