Accountant - Nonprofit - Temporary (1+ months) - Novato - $36 - $45/hour DOE

Highly regarded philanthropic organization seeking an experienced, eager and self-motivated Accountant to join their dedicated, warm and friendly team.

In this role, you will primarily be responsible for account reconciliations, processing investment transactions, providing monthly close support, and assistance with audit schedules.

If you have nonprofit accounting experience with advanced Excel skills, thrive on problem solving and puzzles, have an eye for details, and love challenges, this may be the perfect fit

  • Hours: 37.5 hours a week, Monday through Friday
  • Location: Hybrid in Novato, onsite 4 days a week
  • Duration: 1+ months, with possibility of temp to hire


Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Record monthly investment account transactions, including monthly investment gains and losses, investment income, and purchases/redemptions.
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts.
  • Prepare roll forward analysis of investment accounts.
  • Prepare transfer request paperwork for investment transactions.
  • Assist with monthly close process, including preparation of analysis of accounts.
  • Prepare annual audit schedules.

Accountant Qualifications:

  • At least two years of recent accounting experience, including the tasks noted above.
  • Advanced Excel skills are required. Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • B.A./B.S. degree in accounting or related field.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Writing, editing, and proofreading skills coupled with the ability to gather and organize information effectively.
