We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Investment Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting of our real estate investment portfolios. This role requires a strong understanding of  investment accounting and/or fund accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for investment portfolios.
    • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and company policies.

  • Investment Accounting:

    • Record and reconcile investment transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and valuations.
    • Maintain detailed schedules of real estate investments, including cost tracking, depreciation, and amortization.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections for real estate investments.
    • Monitor and report on variances between actual results and budgeted figures.

  • Compliance and Audit:

    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
    • Coordinate with external auditors for year-end audits and quarterly reviews.

  • Cash Management:

    • Manage cash flow and liquidity for investment properties.
    • Oversee bank reconciliations and manage relationships with financial institutions.

  • Taxation:

    • Assist in the preparation and review of tax filings related to real estate investments.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

  • Investment Analysis:

    • Perform financial analysis and due diligence for potential real estate investments.
    • Prepare investment performance reports and provide insights to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • CPA or CMA designation preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in real estate or investment management.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate investment accounting principles.

  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
