Summit Contracting Group, Inc. is currently looking for a Multifamily Traveling Superintendent. The Superintendent works under a Lead Superintendent to manage day-to-day operations and workflow of a multifamily construction project. Superintendents are responsible for the implementation and enforcement of all Summit standard practices for safety, materials management, quality control, as well as setting the tone for communication and coordination between trade groups.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Functions include the following. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Superintendents must be willing and able to travel. Assistants work with project teams to ensure we deliver each project on time, within budget and on schedule.

  • Assist with project layout
  • Assist in coordinating the work of both Summit employees and Subcontractors
  • Assist in monitoring the quality of workmanship and materials on their project
  • Assist with Safety
  • Help be a problem solver – exercise discretion & judgement
  • Willing to learn new procedures
  • Familiar with multifamily and commercial construction procedures
  • Should have working knowledge of site work, utilities, concrete and framing construction practices
  • Ability to interpret construction documents
  • Ability to work with all trades to maintain a successful project
  • Must have good verbal communication skills
  • Must have previous work experience in a related field

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Preferred Qualifications include the following.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates/Bachelors degree or post-secondary courses in sciences/construction is a plus
  • Experience in the construction field, specializing in multifamily and/or wood frame projects
  • Ability to carry out instructions via written, oral form
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Procore and Email
  • Strong work ethic (required to work some weekends, evenings or early mornings)
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, as part of a larger team and motivate subs/vendors
  • Experience working as a Superintendent for a General Contractor is preferred

Physical Demands

  • Walking, kneeling, bending, sitting, climbing stairs
