Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst – Digital will be an integral part of the NESN Finance team with a primary focus on supporting the organizations' revenue, expense management, and business analysis for the Digital & Marketing departments. This position will be involved in a broad range of business issues while providing critical information needed in the decision-making process. This role requires an independent, proactive, and organized candidate who will be motivated to understand and support the inner workings of the sports media industry.

The ideal candidate reacts well to change and can work in an environment that is constantly evolving. There will be opportunities presented that will allow you to gain exposure and expertise in new areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop integrated revenue & expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations.
  • Responsible for updating, analyzing, and developing our Direct-to-Consumer streaming service model – with emphasis on revenue recognition, subscriber KPIs, promotions & transactional expenses.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to track paid media KPIs & marketing spend.
  • Actively supports strategic planning and analytics for the Digital & Marketing departments at NESN.
  • Execute the timely preparation of journal entries, supporting schedules and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts for monthly close.
  • Produce & analyze monthly financial statements: P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities to improve company processes, information, and business results.
  • Make recommendations for systems solutions and leads the efforts to document requirements, define scope and objectives, and formulate solutions to parallel business strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with key leaders responsible for driving growth and leverage these relationships to perform monthly operating expense & revenue forecasting.
  • Identify trends and developments in the industry and competitive environment and present findings to senior management, including the CFO & CEO.
  • Ensure expenses & Direct-to-Consumer revenue are properly recorded & recognized and work with business partners to understand significant variances between forecast and actual results.
  • Special projects as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related experience in business management, finance, and accounting; public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent; CPA or MBA a plus
  • Experience with developing complex models in Excel; excellent analytical and modeling skills are required.
  • Superior communication skills - both oral and written.
  • Experience in partnering with non-financial functions within an organization and effectively communicating results, trends, etc.
  • Ability to identify specific risks and opportunities and take action to make improvements within the organization.
  • Experience with applying quantitative and qualitative factors as well as business experience to make appropriate recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong analytical, financial, communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and leadership skills are required.
  • Excellent organization & time management skills.
  • Ability to research problems independently and propose business solutions.
  • Knowledge of Broadcast Media industry's concepts, practices, and procedures a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains a plus.
  • Knowledge of SQL & relational databases a plus.
  • Knowledge of Direct-to-Consumer & subscription services a plus
