Job Summary:
The Production Supervisor is a critical thinker capable of leading and navigating a diverse workforce through daily challenges to maintain continuous flow on the production floor. The majority of the supervisor's day will be spent on the floor directing and coaching employees.
Salary:
- Salary range $80K – 90K (depending on experience)
Schedule:
- 1st Shift
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Production Supervisor will oversee the Matt Build department, which includes Matt Build, Matt Supply, and Tape Edge. The supervisor is directly accountable for leading the manufacturing organization to a high level of performance, overseeing daily production, and ensuring the delivery of the final product according to established priorities and sequences. This involves using knowledge of production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities, and skilled labor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor manufacturing and inventory control processes, ensuring all products and inventory are produced according to standard specifications and the production schedule.
- Provide leadership and supervision to production associates, monitoring and evaluating employee productivity and behavior while providing constructive feedback and coaching.
- Oversee daily department activities, including time-keeping, tracking absenteeism, and enforcing company policies and procedures.
- Conduct daily meetings and schedule work for production associates to meet production requirements and goals.
- Utilize lean production and continuous improvement techniques while holding the operation accountable for production performance metrics to meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Resolve manufacturing and quality problems, reduce and eliminate waste/scrap, prioritize, plan, and direct projects.
- Evaluate jobs in process and on completion to ensure products meet safety and quality expectations.
- Assist in hiring, training, evaluating, and developing employees, as well as handling disciplinary actions.
- Ensure all tasks performed by the production team are done safely, efficiently, and accurately to maintain and improve performance in quality and productivity.
- Implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
Competencies:
- 10+ years of Manufacturing Management.
- Strong understanding of assembly line production.
- Ability to create and adhere to production processes.
- Superior leadership and management skills with a proven ability to coordinate employees and teams with different skills and backgrounds.
- Ability to multi-task and react in a fast-paced environment.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations as they pertain to plant operation.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills, with excellent mathematical aptitude and sound quantitative skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.).
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience in injection molding and/or mattress manufacturing preferred.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and problems, as well as facilitate solutions.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish/English desirable.
Physical / Environmental Requirements:
- Work in extreme temperatures, frequently subject to hot and humid conditions.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Subject to areas with moderate to extreme levels of noise.
- Regularly required to stand, walk/move, use hands to fingers, reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
- Bending, twisting, climbing, stacking, pushing, and standing for long periods.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
