Our Chicago-area (Des Plaines, soon to be Schaumburg) law firm specializes in business and corporate law, trust and estate planning, taxation and litigation/dispute resolution. We are seeking a skilled CPA/tax accountant who can head up that department, manage several team members, and provide exceptional client engagement experiences to our clientele. This position is full-time (Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:00p.m.) and on-site.
Position Summary: In our law firm, a CPA juggles a variety of clients in their day-to-day accounting and tax reporting. The position involves a lot of tax projection work, running scenarios for several different strategies, to give the client choices on how to manage their tax situation. It also involves a lot of IRS contact in responding to tax notices, and assisting clients who are currently under audit. This position requires outstanding organization, project management and prioritization skills, a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism, and excellent client communication skills. We are seeking someone with experience as well as an enthusiasm for helping clients. The CPA will work closely with clients and key staff on problem-solving and client services.
Responsibilities include:
- Proactive and constructive interaction with clients, attorneys, the Internal Revenue Service, and state revenue agencies;
- Preparing and reviewing federal and state tax filings for personal, corporate and trust entities from inception to completion;
- Oversight of QuickBooks records for corporate clients;
- Computer proficiency (Excel, Outlook, Lacerte, others);
- Maintaining various lists including client/return status charts;
- Willing to work as a team player, assist with overflow work and projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- CPA required, JD preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an accountant, must be in an accounting or law firm setting.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks software required.
- Proficiency with Lacerte tax software required.
- Ability to lead our team of accountants, and provide problem solving and client engagement expertise
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to accuracy and detail.
- Ability to set priorities and manage time to ensure work is timely and efficiently completed.
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and accurately, always assuring a top-notch client experience.
