Location: Clinton Township, Michigan
Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Auditor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), proficiency in Excel, and experience in insurance audits, 401K audits, and Professional Employer Organization (PEO) audits.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct audits in accordance with GAAP to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Perform detailed testing and analysis of financial statements, accounts, and transactions.
- Prepare workpapers, schedules, and reports documenting audit procedures, findings, and conclusions.
- Identify control deficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to address audit issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Assist in the planning and execution of audit engagements, including risk assessment and scoping.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to auditing and accounting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA certification or progress towards CPA preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in auditing, preferably in a public accounting firm.
- Solid understanding of GAAP, auditing standards, and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications.
- Experience with insurance audits, 401K audits, and PEO audits is preferred but not required
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
