Barista Job Description

A Barista is a professional who makes and serves beverages such as coffee, tea and specialty beverages and food from the kitchen. They are responsible for taking customer orders and payments. They also clean and sanitize their work areas, seating areas and equipment/tools.

Responsibilities

PROVIDING EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE BARISTA EXPERIENCE is REQUIRED

1. Welcoming customers as they enter. Say goodbye to leaving customers.

2. Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients.

3. Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g., preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)

4. Prepare beverages following recipes.

5. Serve beverages and prepared food, like cakes, pastries and croissants.

6. Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards) using POS system.

7. Keep the bar area clean.

8. Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates

9. Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs.

10. Comply with health and safety regulations.

11. Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items.

Requirements and skills

1. Previous work experience as a Barista, Server, Waiter/Waitress minimum 2 years

2. Hands-on experience with brewing equipment. Manual espresso machine.

3. Knowledge of sanitation regulations

4. Knowledge how to use equipment.

5. Basic math skills

6. Ability to gauge customers’ preferences.

7. Excellent communication skills

8. High school diploma: relevant training is a plus.

9. Must be able multi tasks and act quickly.

10. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

11. Must have food handler and TABC certifications
