Overview

Join our team at the New Hope Railroad in the picturesque town of New Hope, Pennsylvania. We are seeking a proficient welder and fabricator who can contribute to our mission of preserving historic train journeys and equipment and who also has skills as a general mechanic. You will play a crucial role in maintaining and restoring our fleet of historic trains, ensuring they continue to operate safely and retain their historic appearance.

Duties

  • Perform body repairs to sheet metal on historic railcars and railcar parts.
  • Welding and fabrication of heavier metal and railcar parts and structure.
  • Assembly and disassembly of components as needed for repair and restoration projects.
  • Assist in the performance of airbrakes, mechanical inspections, and maintenance.
  • Assist in heavy railcar mechanical overhaul, wheel replacement, and coupler replacement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience and knowledge in welding practices and set-up for fabrication and repair.
  • Knowledge and skill with Torch Cutting, both Gas and Plasma.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor as required in the restoration process
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail to ensure precision in all repair work
