Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Additional duties may be assigned.)

  • Manage the SAI Safety System. Develop procedures and lead efforts to ensure a safe work environment on SAI property and SAI customer sites.
  • Build strong working relationships with other functional leaders in the company, including those in engineering, applications engineering, manufacturing, sales & marketing, project management, operations support, finance and human resources to ensure organizational effectiveness and customer satisfaction
  • Conduct accident prevention training and health and safety training
  • Handle worker’s compensation claims in the event of a workplace accident
  • Drive vital decision making to help develop, implement, and maintain essential safety and document control systems
  • Oversee, maintain, and improve the company’s Safety Program
  • Knowledgeable of company, state, and federal workplace health and safety laws and must be able to assess potential hazards and act safely and quickly in the event of an incident
  • Represent SAI as customer contact on safety issues. Interact customers on customer related safety issues, specification alignment and customer corrective actions.
  • Audit existing and new process procedures for compliance and conduct process and safety audits for all departments
  • Coordinate and administer third party safety audits
  • Evaluate health and safety practice procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines
  • Must be able to recognize when safety conditions need improvement and have the ability to prioritize tasks, especially when handling an accident or incident
  • Provide day to day direction to QC supervisors, inspectors, safety and document control personnel
  • Facilitate companywide implementation of safety corrective actions
  • Inspect equipment for unsafe workplace conditions
  • Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies
  • Suggest solutions, improvements and prevention steps for safety issues
  • Demonstrate definitive, year over year, enhancement of the quality and safety management system
  • Establish department goals that align with SAI goals. Mentor team and provide guidance for team member goal development.
  • Regular in-person attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Extensive attention to detail to distinguish safety hazards.
  • Develop and maintain audit and testing programs to comply with vendor quality per customer requirements
  • Conduct visual inspection, measurement tests and reject any unusable materials
  • Develop and implement quality systems
  • Document inspections through logs and reports to be shared among team(s)
  • Determine compliance with Company policies, standards, procedures, and applicable statutes, government, industry regulations
  • Assist in the preparation of written reports for all levels of management, detailing audit findings, conclusions, and agreed-upon corrective actions.
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating the organization’s risk areas and provide input to the development of the Audit Plan
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following SAI safety procedures and protocols
  • Statistical data analysis capabilities.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

  • 2 - 5 years Safety Management experience, in a Manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management
  • Risk management certification.
  • Health and safety management certification
  • Completed 10- or 30-hour OSHA training and certified in First Aid/CPR

Knowledge and Skills:
