POSITION TITLE:  Staff Estimator

REPORTS TO:  Chief Estimator

The following job description includes but is not limited to this list. All employees are expected to do what is necessary to assure a happy client and safe working environment.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Collect and analyze data to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required to manufacture/install a product, construct a building, or provide a service.

 

 JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires a high attention to detail in a deadline driven environment. The estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates to bid on large landscape and amenity projects. In addition to their overall duties, they should create and maintain an atmosphere of growth and development.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Analyze specifications and technical documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor required to manufacture/install a product or provide a service.

·         Gathering, calculating, and compiling take-off data for use in bid proposal estimates.

·         Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.

·         Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on cost estimates.

·         Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.

·         Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.

·         Work on multiple projects; perform multi-tasking and planning for future.

·         Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.

·         Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. Conduct negotiations to obtain best pricing.

·         Evaluate a product’s cost-effectiveness or profitability.

·         Recommend ways to make a product/service more cost effective or profitable.

·         Follow up with clients after bid submission.

·         Support the overall goals and objectives of the company.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience and training.   

·         Must be extremely organized, detail oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

·         Strong skills using Office 365 (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) and general comfort using a computer.

·         Have a professional demeanor while handling administrative functions.

·         Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

·         The ability to organize, prioritize, and allocate workload for optimum efficiency.

·         Proficient written and verbal communication.

·         Spanish bilingual highly preferred.
