Summary: The Equipment Maintenance Technician will provide essential after-hours support. This role involves safely completing preventative maintenance on furnaces, as well as offering support and troubleshooting expertise to the night furnace team. The furnaces are vital to success, and this position plays a key role in ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.

This position will start with daytime training and orientation before transitioning to the night shift.

Essential Functions:

  • Replace system components including vacuum pumps, vacuum gauges, thermocouples, temperature controllers, filter elements, and fluids.
  • Build and operate specialized testing or processing fixtures, systems, and apparatus.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment using technical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with codes.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment such as motors.
  • Diagnose and repair industrial equipment including cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, vacuum pumps, vacuum gauges, chillers, air handling units, and electric doors.
  • Perform general maintenance duties such as preventive maintenance, trouble calls, and emergency maintenance as needed and assigned.
  • Occasionally work on projects involving running conduit, pulling wire, and connecting devices using lifts and ladders.
  • Layout, fabricate, assemble, and install or de-install hydraulic and low voltage systems.
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment like oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
  • Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures using hand or power tools.
  • Perform or assist outside services with the calibration of system monitoring and measuring equipment.
  • Perform typical furnace technician operations, including loading of assembled components, placement of thermocouples, generating recipes, adjusting controls per job documentation or project engineer communications, and starting and monitoring profiles, making adjustments as necessary to ensure correct part profiles.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment, with proven experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues/failures.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience handling voltages up to 480 VAC.
  • At least 5 years of experience with DC power and controls.
  • Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics.
  • Experience in installing electrical equipment and circuit modification.
  • Understanding of atmospheric pressures with the ability to read and articulate them.
  • Familiarity with pumps and motors, including replacement, diagnosing, rebuilding, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and temperature control physics.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on furnaces, compressors, and hydraulic pumps.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and departments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of physics.
  • Current driver’s license and forklift certification.

Preferred:

  • Previous HVAC and vacuum furnace/pump experience.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, or a similar field.
  • Personal tools may be required.
  • Experience with Job Boss and Unipoint.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Teams).
