Business Development Consultant / Customer Service Position

The National Group is a growing commercial printer in Lafayette Indiana with a 52-year history of specializing in offset, digital & wide format printing as well as mailing services. We are seeking an experienced Customer Service Representative to join our team.

Our ideal candidate will be super organized, thorough, honest, trustworthy, possess strong math skills, quick with computers, very detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment and have the skills to prioritize and organize large amounts of information.

Having knowledge of printing processes would be a plus, however it is not required.

This person will also need to possess superior verbal and writing communication skills for effective communication with customers and co-workers.

Compensation Includes:

Annual Compensation – Above industry average annual income based upon experience + benefits

Insurance benefits: (Approximately $6,000.00 annual value)

Health - 100% paid premiums for employee (family members extra)

Life - 100% paid premiums (family members extra)

Dental - 100% paid premiums for employee (family members extra)

Vision - 100% paid premiums for employee (family members extra)

Short Term Disability & Long-Term Disability - 100% paid premiums for employee

Paid vacation based upon time worked.

Sick Pay: Two paid days per year

Holiday Pay: (7- 8 days) New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Christmas Day. Most years also include 1/2 day on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Responsibilities will include:

• Estimate quote requests and present in professional manner. This can range from a simple email message to a complex spreadsheet.

• Confer with customers by telephone, email or in person to provide information about products or services, taking and entering customer orders into production systems via company MIS system.

• Submit orders to production departments then monitor to ensure on time completion.

• Interact with vendors to secure best materials/options for manufacturing of products.

• Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability, and job statuses.

• Emphasize product features based on analyses of customers’ needs and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.

• Maintain customer records using automated systems.

• Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information, such as selling strategies or marketing information.

• Back up other team members when they are on vacation or extended periods away from the office.

As the ideal candidate you should be able to demonstrate the following:

Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Production and Processing — Knowledge of technology, raw materials, printing processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the desired end results and distribution of goods.

Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling printed material and services offered. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.

English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

 

As the ideal candidate, you should possess the following skills:

A Typical Day:

Process orders and job follow through - This can range from 5-10 jobs in slower times to 20 or more jobs in busier times.

Sales activities/other - Maintain customer database, maintain contact with customers through handwritten notes, emails, phone calls, etc., training and education on current/new products and services, assist/engage with promotions, marketing ideas, proposals, lead generation, etc.

Focus For Success:

Software/Technology - Must be quick with computer technology and proficient with Microsoft products

(Word, Power-point and especially Excel). Adobe product knowledge is a bonus.

Quick learner on any new software, because we are a software driven company using dozens of programs to produce and manage work.

Math - Basic such as multiplication, division, addition, “what if” scenarios

Proactive - Knowing what to do, and doing it without being asked or waiting to be told

Reactive - Ready, willing, and happy to change projects at the drop of a hat, it happens frequently

Organized - From office space to computer files, managing hundreds of jobs for 40-50 customers

Teamwork - Willing to help where needed, covering for vacations of sales staff. We are very departmentalized so working well with others is very important.

Change Oriented - Our industry has been and will continue to change rapidly, our company will do the same.

Trustworthy - Data is highly sensitive, we deal with lots of customer and internal confidential data.

Dependable - We are a small business, making regular attendance critical.

Professional - We are a business-to-business company, and this person will be working with some of our larger accounts.
