Apprentice Carpenter

An apprentice carpenter receives on-the-job training from a Crew Lead Carpenter. This individual knows basic carpentry skills such as how to read a blueprint, identify the best tools for a job, measure and cut wood, and assemble parts to create a finished product.
This individual will represent the Fryer Construction brand/image on and off the job site.
Requirements for Apprentice Carpenter
§ Internal Communication Skills- Maintain consistent communication with the Fryer Construction team.
§ Reliable & Punctual-Have transportation to jobs and attend work daily and on time.
§ Work Ethic-Stay busy at all times and maintain physical strength/stamina.
§ Willingness to learn, listen, and take direction with a good attitude.
§ Ability to use construction related math skills on the job (geometry, algebra, and trigonometry).
§ Willingness to accept accountability with a positive attitude and implement experiences to develop as a leader.
Job Duties
§ 1 step ahead-Have tools and material on hand/in position for the associated installer (apprentice carpenter and/or crew lead carpenter). You will set the pace on the job and maintain productivity requirements.
§ Apprentice is familiar with all hand/power tool names, their intended use, and has them in place for use as needed.
§ Apprentice is familiar with material names, their intended use, and has them in place as needed.
§ Has acquired carpentry hand tools and knows how to efficiently use them.
§ Learn and practice essential carpentry skills on the job.
Previous construction experience is required (internally or externally). A positive attitude, and willingness to learn is required. This position is the beginning of developing your leadership skills to prepare you for a future crew lead carpenter position. Your problem solving and comfortability in the work place will be tested consistently. Your leadership training skills will make you even more valuable to the Fryer Construction team and will be high in demand moving forward.
