CVP seeks a Senior Consultant to help lead the development of a sophisticated analytics platform used for reporting, dashboards, and predictive analytics. The professional in this role will have significant experience leading teams implementing business intelligence tools like SAP Business Objects and Microsoft Power BI as well as performing data engineering with Python. ]

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation of new analytic products (e.g., reports, dashboards) as well as datasets (e.g., fact tables) for a data warehouse.  
  • Work with customers to develop business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 
  • Demonstrate strong testing and troubleshooting skills to solve problems across software, databases, and networking environments. 
  • Assist in the identification, development, and establishment of technical standards and procedures. 
  • Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design and be able to demonstrate progress against a roadmap for an executive audience. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to mentor/teach less experienced developers through code reviews and other learning tools. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and multi-task in an environment with evolving priorities and multiple work streams. 

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret government security clearance. US Citizenship is required.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional team skills, in addition to strong technical expertise in knowledge management and data/database management to provide oversight and guidance for all data-related services and support. 
  • 10 years of experience working on a data team. 
  • 3 years of team leadership experience. 
  • 2+ years of experience with BI tools like SAP Business Objects, Microsoft Power BI, IBM Cognos, or MicroStrategy. 
  • 2+ years of experience with Python and SQL. 
  • 3 years or more of experience defining data system architecture and performing data modeling. 
  • Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS and their offerings. 
  • Experience in agile software engineering practices. 
  • Experience mentoring and training developers. 
  • Understanding of software quality assurance principles. 
  • Strong communication skills and a team player. 

Desired Skills 

  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) – Master or equivalent. 
  • Knowledge and experience with: 
  • PL/SQL 
  • T-SQL 
  • Jenkins or other CI/CD tools 
  • Luigi, Airflow, Prefect. 
  • Exposure to machine learning and natural language processing. 
  • Experience in designing and implementing API led services and microservices. 

Location: Three days a week onsite at Dept of State, 2201 C St NW, Washington, DC.
