PROJECT ARCHITECT / TECHNICAL LEAD

Summary

As the Project Architect / Technical Lead, you are responsible for leading the technical team through the Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents phases of projects. Considered some of the most important deliverables associated with our professional services, the documents you produce must graphically and technically illustrate the project scope in a well-coordinated set of drawings and specifications, successfully communicating the design intent to its users, clients, authorities having jurisdiction, and builders.

*Senior Project Architect / Senior Technical Lead: Proven ability to successfully lead the team on projects of greater size/complexity, provide mentorship to junior team members, and provide technical support/review for projects in production. Support performance reviews of technical team members. Participate in the interview process for technical team member candidates. Participate in design competitions as required. Participate in project pursuits as required (i.e., interviews, written proposal materials, etc.)

Description

Business Development / Marketing

  • Participate in project pursuits as required (i.e., comment on proposed project schedules, review BIM (Building Information Modeling) requirements, etc.)
  • Attendance at industry events (i.e., workshops, and seminars for continuing education)

Project Set-Up

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to:
    1. Provide input on consultant team selection, as required
    2. Provide input on project schedule and production staff required to effectively complete documentation and approvals
  • Provide input on schedule for consultant progress and milestone submissions
  • Provide input when the internal project production team is established
  • Oversee the initial project set up within the BIM workspace

Programming/Entitlement through Jurisdictional Approvals

  • During the Schematic Design phase, the Project Architect / Technical Lead will be involved in developing the BOD for major systems such as Structural, MEP, etc. Provide input to the Design Team from a technical, constructability, and code standpoint
  • Provide project team leadership in coordinating execution of design intent into well-detailed and coordinated construction documents using BIM:
  • Lead day-to-day communication with the internal technical team, including oversight and mentorship of junior staff
  • Lead day-to-day communication and project coordination with the consultant team
  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager in overseeing the production of the project manual
  • Lead technical team in QA/QC implementation
  • Responsible for all technical detailing and coordination of the project
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and Project Designer to ensure the project meets code requirements, technical standards, client expectations, and design intent
  • Participate in client meetings, as required
  • Participate in the Construction Budget process
  1. Review and comment on construction Cost Estimates at project milestones
  2. Integration of Value Engineering items
  • Work with DSA or local jurisdictions and other jurisdictional agencies to obtain approvals

Bidding / Construction Administration / Close-Out

  • Support and serve as a resource to the lead Construction Administrator as needed during the bidding and construction phases

Administrative

  • Provide input / contribute to improving standards and efficiencies
  • Mentorship of junior team members

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

  • Architectural / Technical experience
  • Strong understanding of the engineering disciplines and documentation
  • Strong understanding of the DSA / local jurisdictions and building codes
  • Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of current materials, methods, and practices of the construction industry
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to lead an internal and external team

REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years' experience as a Project Architect / Technical Lead
  • Professional Architectural degree required
  • Licensure preferred
