POSITION

Assistant Project Manager

Job Duties

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager provides support and oversight in the planning and processes of a project and delegates responsibilities to ensure the project is completed efficiently and successfully.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
  • Daily interaction with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements, and present them to the field.
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, project personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status.
  • Assign responsibilities and mentor the project team.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with Contractor’s project manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintain budgets and make adjustments according to needs as they arise.
  • Track performance and analyze the completion of key goals.
  • Document and report project progress to stakeholders and clients.
  • Prepare, submit, and track change orders.
  • Follow-up with the field team on change orders that are awaiting final backup (T+M tickets, material delivery tickets, etc.).
  • Prepare material takeoffs and get quotes from material suppliers/vendors.
  • Coordinate deliveries of material.
  • Create purchase orders for material purchases.
  • Approve vendor invoices and code per company coding protocols.
  • Analyze and forecast budgets.
  • Ability to manage 20+ projects at a time.
  • Review project plans in detail in order to diagnose possible design problems.
  • Prepare/send RFIs and submittals.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong ability to review and understand civil plans (required)
  • Underground utility construction experience (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field (required)
  • Certification as Project Management Professional (preferred)
  • Organization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use specialized software for collaboration and time management, including spreadsheets
  • Experience with inventory control and process improvement
  • Strong time management and analytical skills
  • Firm understanding of complex mathematical concepts
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in Procore, and Microsoft Suite (required)

WORKDAYS/HOURS

FLAMINGO CONSTRUCTION, INC., traditionally work the hours of 7:00 – 3:30 Monday through Friday. Workdays/hours may adjust to meet deadlines.

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Positions in this classification require sitting and utilizing a computer/keyboard/phone for extended periods of your work shift. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard. Must possess ability to work in office setting: sit, stand, stamina, type, endure repetitive movements of the wrist, hands and fingers. This position also requires the ability to handle varying levels of stress.
