Accounting Consultant (Accounting Manager/Senior Accountant)
A company in Rockville is looking for an Accounting Consultant to assist with budget season. The ideal candidate will have experience working as an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant.
This position will support the areas of budget preparation, forecasting, analysis, financial reporting, general accounting, and audit. The ideal candidate for this role will have solid experience with US GAAP accounting principles, clear communication skills, be a team player, have the ability to maintain confidentiality, and be detail oriented.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Budgeting and forecasting; Research and analyze P&L budget to actual and year over year variances; analyze P&L trends.
- Provide financial analysis and interpretation to management, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Address inquiries and provide explanations regarding financial matters.
- Prepare monthly journal entries to properly record accounting transactions.
- Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Participate in external audits, including timely preparation and organization of audit schedules, work papers, and various reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency in financial operations.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
- At least 3+ years of relevant experience in Accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; expert-level proficiency with Excel.
- Ability to establish priorities, work to strict deadlines, and to deal with shifting and competing priorities.
