Job DescriptionJob Description

Expert Staffing West is seeking a dedicated TIG welder.


Monday through Thursday 11:30am-10:00pm

PAY between $22/hr - $28/hr


Responsibilities:


Join metal parts by welding them in various positions, such as flat, vertical, or overhead.

Utilize safety gear and adhere to safe working practices.

Prepare and secure components before assembly by using tools like straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.

Inspect and measure workpieces for defects to ensure they meet specifications.

Set up and operate welding tools and equipment, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding tools.

Weld different metals, including aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys, either separately or together.

Position and secure parts by clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, grinding, or bolting.

Choose and install the appropriate torches, tips, filler rods, and flux based on welding chart specifications or the types and thicknesses of the metals.

Ignite torches or start power supplies and initiate arcs by touching electrodes to metals to complete electrical circuits.

Adjust gas flow and pressure by connecting and turning regulator valves to achieve the desired flames.

Select the necessary equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.

Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.

Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to join metal segments through processes like gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.

Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan welding operations.

Mark or tag materials with job numbers, piece marks, and other required identifiers.


Qualifications:

Understand TIG welding equipment fundamentals, grounding, wire feed, and gun operation. Use safety equipment and maintain safe work habits. Keep the work area organized and clean. Follow work instructions and use fixtures as directed. Inspect workpieces for defects and measure them as required. Maintain consistent weld quality as per first article approval. Have at least one year of experience in welding within a manufacturing environment, or equivalent training/education. Possess basic knowledge of TIG welding principles and effective communication skills.
