Job DescriptionJob Description

General Description

The Counselor/Therapist provides mental health assessments, administers counseling to child survivor(s) and/or non- offending family members. Counselor/Therapist is also required to complete case-management, and psychoeducation in accordance with CACCWC policies. Ensures that needs are met for the child and family in a manner which ensures safety planning, needs assessment and intervention. Attend free evidence based training hosted by CACTX to further the content knowledge and expertise (TFCBT & CFTSI).

 

At CACCWC’s discretion, may be required to work from the office, in the community, or via telework to effectively accomplish regular job duties. Position may include working a flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends), cross coverage and assignment to serve in other areas to provide services.

 

Examples of work performed

• Provide counseling services for identified child(ren), child victim(s) and non-offending family members.

• Maintains an ongoing, up-to-date knowledge base in counseling techniques.

• Prepares therapy records for record subpoena request.

• Testify in court when subpoenaed.

• Maintain an average case load of 30-35 clients

Education, Training, and Experience (including licensure and certification)

o Master’s degree in Social, Behavioral, or Human Services plus State of Texas licensure (LCSW, LPC,

LMFT…) required o State of Texas Intern licensure as LPC Associate (intern) accepted

o Experience related to physical and sexual child abuse, legal proceedings, and crisis intervention is preferred.

o Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred o Must pass a criminal history check, background check, and CPS registry check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Provide an assessment of each child’s individual, social and therapeutic needs.

• Experience working with children who have experienced trauma.

• Knowledge of trauma informed care, which emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety, to help survivors rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Evidence-Based Practices, or interest and ability to learn.

Ability to work effectively with individuals with complex needs and multi-system involvement.

Possesses attitudes and behaviors which are consistent with total quality improvement and the mission statement of CACCWC.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, facilitation skills and a collaborative management approach are required.

Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and professionals from a variety of disciplines.

This position may consist of employee working 70% of the time in the office and up to 30% of the time in the community.

Computer literate

Must maintain a safe driving record.
