Job DescriptionJob Description

Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the administrative and clinical needs of the patients, families and doctors in the clinic. This position requires strong written and verbal skills in communication with patients, nurses, doctors, providers and administrative staff.

Position Requirements:

· Medical Assistant training\certification preferred

· CPR Certified

· Working experience as a medical assistant

· Social perceptiveness and service oriented

· Desire to pursue continuous process improvement

· Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures

· Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

· Proficiency in MS Office and Centricity Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Position Responsibilities:

To include, but not limited to;

Administrative

· Organize and schedule appointments

· Document immunization temperature and inventory

· Copy VIS sheets, bright futures and vaccine authorization forms

· Scan documents into patient charts as needed

· Prepare each morning for the days patients

Communication

· Greeting patients

· Answering and returning patient calls

· Electronic written correspondence with parents and providers

· Open communication with MD in relation to patient care

Clinical

· Prepare each morning for the days patients

· Prepare patient rooms before each exam

· Prepare supplies based on appointment type (i.e. throat swabs, urine collection, etc.)

· Assisting the physician during exam as needed

· Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens

· Instructing patients and parents on patient care

· Preparing and administering vaccines and medications as directed by a physician

· Complete nurse visits

Physical

· Regular use of computer

· Extensive time standing

· Bending, lifting, sitting
