What it's like to be a Camp Assistant Supervisor at Camp Assistant Supervisor

Get ready to make a positive impact on the lives of children this summer as a Seasonal Camp Assistant at YMCA of Reading & Berks County In this role, you will play a vital part in providing direct supervision to a group of children in our exciting day camp/playground program. Guided by the YMCA's core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring, you will ensure that every child and parent receives a high-quality experience they will cherish.

Your top priority will be the safety and wellbeing of all participating children, and you'll do so by offering appropriate supervision and engaging interactions. As a camp assistant, you will lead developmentally appropriate activities that foster growth and create a fun-filled environment. Additionally, you'll provide invaluable support to the Group Supervisor in their duties.

Would you be a great Camp Assistant Supervisor?

To excel as a Seasonal Camp Assistant at YMCA of Reading & Berks County, certain skills and qualifications are necessary. Firstly, you should possess a minimum of a high school diploma and have a passion for working with children. It's important to have prior experience in interacting with children, ideally with a documented track record of at least 2500 hours.

In order to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of our campers, you must be able to obtain criminal child abuse FBI and National Sex Offender Registry clearances. This ensures that we maintain a secure and nurturing environment for all children in our care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for building positive relationships with both children and parents.

Additionally, flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to think on your feet will enable you to handle the challenges and unexpected situations that may arise during camp activities.
