The Levy Company is currently hiring an Accountant to prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities.

 

Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Performs both general and job cost accounting.
  2. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheets and income statements, and closes each month.
  3. Verifies invoice coding, sets up new vendors, and reconciles A/P journal accounts.
  4. Maintains monthly accounting reports (allocations, WIP, debt schedule, depreciation).
  5. Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  6. Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and signs A/P checks.
  7. Approves payroll proofing report and reconciles weekly payroll to GL.
  8. Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audits.
  9. Prepares and files federal, state, local, and special tax returns.
  10. Prepares and submits disadvantaged business enterprise forms and TxDOT 2177 Prompt Pay reports.
  11. Provides recommendations and assists in implementation of efficient and cost-effective solutions to business and financial problems.

 

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  2. One year of professional accounting experience with no less than six months of construction accounting experience.

 

Required Competencies:

  1. Thorough understanding of with ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  2. Proficient with accounting software.
  3. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  4. Ability to solve intermediate to difficult mathematical problems.
  5. Skilled in gathering and analyzing relevant information to resolve problems promptly.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality.
  8. Ability to effectively manage electronic and physical files.
  9. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize assignments, modify schedules, and alter the sequence of steps as necessary to obtain desired results.
  10. Data input with a high degree of accuracy.
  11. Ability to monitor own work to ensure quality and accept feedback that may improve performance.
  12. Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage work demands, and deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  13. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  14. Ability to work under minimal supervision and solicit feedback to improve performance.
  15. Ability and commitment to meet deadlines.
  16. Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.

 

Working Environment:

Work is performed primarily indoors, sitting or standing and using a computer or other office equipment for long periods of time.


Mobile Equipment:

None.  Driving is not an essential function of this position.

 

Physical Demands:

  1. Standing or sitting at a desk or table for up to eight (8) hours per day.
  2. Constant use of a computer for up to eight (8) hours per day.
  3. Lifting and / or exerting of force up to 10 pounds occasionally and 5 pounds frequently.
  4. Occasional walking, bending, stooping, and twisting.
  5. Occasional climbing of steps and / or stairs.
  6. Visual acuity to work at a computer, perform manual detailed work, and to read printed and electronic documents.
  7. Hearing capacity to effectively communicate in person and by telephone.
  8. Manual dexterity to frequently manipulate, handle, and feel.
