About This Role

The Sr Developer, Data Visualizations and Application Development should be an experienced R or R Shiny programmer with a passion for developing applications and visualizations for clinical trial data.  This role will build tools that allow users to better interact with clinical trial data or that make our clinical development work more efficient.  You will also engage with users to understand what makes a truly usable application.  You will be supported within a team environment following SDLC best-practices that encourages you to be creative with technology to generate value for drug development.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Develop applications and visualizations using R and packages such as Shiny and Markdown  within the Data Visualizations and Application Development group (DVAD)
  • Engage with users (i.e. statisticians, statistical programmers, data managers, safety MDs, medical writers, clinical development, data stewardship, etc) to understand requirements and adapt tools based on user feedback
  • Manage your projects and timelines with only moderate guidance
  • Develop good knowledge of the intricacies of clinical data
  • Contribute to development, testing, and documentation of internal tools and packages
  • Keep learning and consider applying other technologies to solve a problem - not limited just R or Shiny

Who You Are

You are an experienced R/Shiny programmer with a passion for developing applications and visualizations for clinical trial data.  You understand the importance of identifying the right problem, selecting the proper analytics technology to solve it, and working with the users to implement the solution.

 

 

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree is required and preferred in Data or Science field
  • 2+ years’ programming experience with R as well as visualization packages such as Shiny.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a digital and data technologies role
  • Experience developing applications or visualizations for users
  • Teamwork – it takes a team to build, release, and maintain a great tool

Preferred Skills

  • Life Sciences experience
  • Clinical data experience (knowledge of CDISC helpful)
  • Other programming languages such as SAS, PHP, MySQL, PowerBI, Tableau
  • Git, Github
