GENERAL SUMMARY

The Data Engineer works under the direction of the Manager of Data Engineering to ensure high quality, on-time data for the organization. This role will provide hands-on development and support in our Databricks and ETL environments. Role will also be responsible for timely response to ad hoc data requests, establishing system data connectivity, and analytical architecture.

This job will have access to confidential and sensitive information, and therefore requires ongoing discretion and strict compliance with all information security policies.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develop ETL solutions ensure accurate data at all levels of our datalake.
  • Architect our datalake to maximize reporting flexibility.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis based on urgent business requests.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, including scrum standup, estimation, and retrospectives.
  • Complete special projects and other functions, as required.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively using two-way channels of communication with openness and active listening
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with UML (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,). Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Demonstrate ability to build strong relationships and trust at every level of the institution.
  • Prioritize, escalate, and exercise sound judgment in balancing the needs of the organization.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Knowledge of network security and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) compliance.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent work experience; In lieu of undergraduate degree, the ratio of 1:1 meaning one year of college equals one year of work experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in ETL, data engineering, and data architecture
  • 3+ years of SQL experience with enterprise data (SQL Server, Oracle, DataBricks, SnowFlake).
  • 3+ years of healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a collaboration platform such as Team Foundation Server (TFS), DevOps, Jira or similar strongly preferred.
