Responsibilities:

  • As an Applied Research Associate you will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced Applied Research Scientists and Software Engineering teams on a range of projects. You will participate in the research, design and development of Ophthalmic applications and medical devices.
  • The Applied Research Associate is expected to aid members of the Applied Research Team across multiple active projects. To contribute to the design, development, and execution of experiments, apply data analysis techniques and communicate results effectively. Additionally, the Applied Research Associate is expected to contribute to the advancements of the Applied Research Team’s experimental methodology and Medical Device automation algorithms.
  • Work within a small multidisciplinary project team, helping to support a focused research effort into new therapies in Ophthalmology.
  • Aid members of the Applied Research Team in the design, development, and maintenance of biomechanical assays for pre-clinical applications.
  • Aid members of the Applied Research Team in their development and testing of Medical Device automation algorithms.
  • Conduct laboratory-based research, including implementing and executing experimental protocols with a focus on timely and accurate results.
  • Accurate and timely recording of data in lab notebooks and electronic files.
  • Develop/apply appropriate data analysis techniques.
  • Effectively communicate experimental results.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic background with coursework in biomedical engineering, medical imaging, or computer vision/machine learning, or related subjects
  • Demonstrable interest in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Vision/Automation, Data Science or Mathematical Modelling applications.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for design and modeling purposes.
  • Familiarity with development tools in Computer vision and/or Machine Learning is a plus.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g. Python or C++) is a plus.
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience working with ex-vivo tissue is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Master's in a scientific, biomedical, mechanical, or other engineering discipline or Bachelor's
