Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Welcome patients into the treatment area and make them feel comfortable
- Discuss the dental care plan with patients and answer any questions they have
- Accurately verify and document medical and oral health histories
- Take x-rays.
- Perform preliminary exams
- Evaluate patients for signs of gum disease and infection
- Complete dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins and apply fluoride treatments
- Teach good oral hygiene techniques
- Schedule appointment for next dental hygiene visit.
- Document dental hygiene services by charting in patient records.
- Maintain patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain sterilization by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and office policies
- Associates Degree from a school certified by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
- Current Dental Hygienist licensure
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and all dentistry safety guidelines
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
