Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Level 2-3 Tower Hand to join our client's telecommunications organization. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of wireless communication towers and infrastructure. Responsibilities:

  1. Tower Construction and Installation: Assist with the construction, erection, and installation of telecommunications towers, antennas, and related equipment. Follow safety protocols and industry best practices to ensure safe and efficient tower climbs and installations.
  2. Tower Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on telecommunications towers and equipment. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tower hardware, antennas, cables, and other components.
  3. Equipment Handling and Rigging: Assist with the handling, rigging, and lifting of heavy equipment and materials during tower construction and maintenance activities. Operate hand and power tools, winches, and rigging equipment safely and effectively.
  4. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations, guidelines, and procedures at all times while working on telecommunications towers. Complete safety training and certifications as required by industry standards and regulations.
  5. Equipment Installation and Integration: Assist with the installation and integration of telecommunications equipment, including antennas, radio units, coaxial cables, and transmission lines. Ensure proper alignment, grounding, and connection of equipment to maximize performance and reliability.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of tower construction, maintenance, and repair activities. Complete work orders, inspection reports, and other documentation as required for project documentation and regulatory compliance.
  7. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and project managers to plan and execute tower projects efficiently and effectively. Communicate effectively with coworkers and contractors to coordinate tasks and ensure project deadlines are met.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications in telecommunications, tower climbing, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Tower Hand or in a similar role in the telecommunications industry.
  • Tower Climbing and Rescue (TCR) certification required; ComTrain or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in tower climbing techniques, safety procedures, and equipment usage.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications equipment and technology, including antennas, radio units, coaxial cables, and transmission lines.
  • Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair tower equipment and hardware.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
