OVERVIEW 

The Lead Industrial Painter is a working lead, experienced with production responsibilities who will also coordinate Blast and Paint schedules and provide work direction and training to team members.  They ensure work is being completed to a high-quality standard.  In addition, the Lead Painter is responsible for ensuring the Blast & Paint booth organization and cleanliness.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Coordinate blast and paint schedules with production supervisor to ensure timely completion. 
  • Give clear work directions to blast operators and painters.  
  • Support and train new staff in proper paint and blast methods. 
  • Work to improve paint processes and efficiency. 
  • Paint and apply finishing coats in accordance with work orders. 
  • Examines finished products to ensure conformance to specifications. 
  • Proper time and record keeping on work orders of self and team members. 
  • Recording paint usage on work orders. 
  • Maintain proper product rotation, storage and assist with cycle counts. 
  • Observes safety rules and procedures per OSHA standards.  
  • Maintain MN Hazardous waste handling procedures. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Completed degree from vocational or technical school preferred. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.  
  • 5+ years’ experience with industrial painting 
  • Experience leading projects and teams.  

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS 

  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and give proper work direction in a team environment. 
  • Promotes a high degree of quality and pride in our finished product.  
  • Demonstrates ability to tactfully handle difficult situations with team. 

PLANNING AND TIME UTILIZATION 

  • Consistently recognizes and deals with priorities. 
  • Recognizes schedule bottlenecks and can adjust. 
  • Demonstrates an ability to multi-task in various environments. 
  • Attention to detail a must 

INITIATIVE 

  • Performs most duties in an independent manner with support from supervision. 
  • Recognizes and performs duties that need to be performed although not directly assigned. 
  • Makes sure that all details are done, and their work is exact.  Errors could endanger worker’s safety.
