Responsibilities: 

  • Support designers in sourcing, costing, and development functions 
    • In charge of communications with fabric and trim vendors on price and availability 
    • Set up and submit POs for fabrics and for trims 
    • Continuous follow up of sample orders, lab dip, print strike off requests, counter-sourcing fabric and trims 
    • Organize fabric and trim approvals from development and hand off to production after SMS 
    • Forward all invoices to the proper channels for payment
  • Manage and track samples from vendors via daily email communication with factories. Compile WIP reports that are consistently updated and communicated with overseas and domestic factories 
    • Ensure on-time delivery of development samples 
    • Responsible for sending out all development sample requests and managing T&A on samples
    • In charge of domestic cut tickets and working with vendors to ensure accuracy and completeness during handoff process 
  • Maintain development T&A calendar - ensure design team is on track with all milestones across multiple seasons (dates for sketch review, tech pack deadline, SMS deadline)
  • Work closely with the Production team to solve any production related issues
    • Work on getting yields for prototype costing
    • Calculate margin and costing for prototype and SMS - flag issues to design ahead of time
  • Conduct all lab dips and strike off requests and send out of comments
  • Ensure an on-time, on-budget, and quality development
    • Track actual development spend (fabrics and factory) to budget, strategically plan spending for the year 
    • Determine optimal domestic / overseas allocation throughout the year (not to be included in JP - more explanation for internal use - i.e contingent on calendar some quarters with shorter development window and fabric lead-times will require higher levels of domestic development)
  • Document fit comments during proto fittings - (this is important but weighted 5% bc task occurs 4 times a year) Design to pass fit comments to factories but need someone to write comments while we fit) 
  • Manage and input credit card expenses via Concur each month to ensure timely processing  
  • Manage the development of new products across markets (sourcing and/or production)  
  • Continuously source for fabrics, trims and any new factories and techniques
  • Assist in supporting special projects as needed 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or related field preferred 
  • 5+ years of apparel product development experience 
  • Understanding of garment construction and technical knowledge of production 
  • Good fabric knowledge of constructions and finishes
  • Basic understanding of the product lifestyle 
  • Exceptional organizational skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficiency in MS Suite, especially Excel 
  • In office work schedule
Salary: 75K-95K (based on experience and qualifications)
